Hello 1st grade families,
Please read the reminders and announcements below:
Thursday Folder Information:
Please check your child's Thursday folder this week for some important information. Included in the folders are graded work, password information, and your child's reading level based on the Fountas and Pinnell assessments. I also included a packet of Unit 1 Home Links for your reference. These are not homework assignments. Rather, they are just a way for you to see how math is being taught with our new curriculum. Please let me know if you have any questions. Please keep the passwords in a place where your child can access them. Both the IXL Math and RAZ-Kids sites can be accessed via the Links page of our classroom website. While we have practiced accessing the website in our computer lab, it is a good idea to bookmark it for your child. I encourage all students to make use of the home access to these subscriptions!
SOCKTOBER - 1st GRADE SOCK COLLECTION DRIVE
LCE's 1st grade students are leading the charge in spreading Kindness this October by joining Kid President in celebrating Socktober! We will be collecting donations of new socks for adults in children from Monday, 10/17 through Monday 10/31. The kids are excitedly working on posters, and will be making a little video to announce our efforts. Our donations will support the residents of Haven House. We need a few parents who can be available on the morning of 10/28 to help collect sock donations in the morning carline. If you are available, please let me know as soon as possible.
WILD THINGS PARADE - MONDAY, OCTOBER 31ST 1:30 PM
LCE's 1st grade is "Where the Wild Things Are"! It's time for another 1st grade tradition. Our Wild Things will be parading around the campus on Monday, 10/31 from 1:00 - 1:30 PM. We will roar our terrible roars, parade through other classrooms, and end the wild rumpus on the playground stage. Please meet us on the playground at around 1:30 PM to watch our Wild Things sing a few songs and celebrate! (Parents, please remember that there are no Halloween costumes permitted.) We will be having a small treat for Halloween, so no additional treats are necessary. If you wish, students may bring some Halloween treats for their classmates. Please make sure that all items are nut-free, store-bought, and that there are enough for all 22 students in the class.
COLLABORATION DAY - FRI. 10/28 - 11:35 AM DISMISS
Friday, October 28th is a Collaboration Day. All students should arrive by 8:10 AM and will be dismissed at 11:35 AM.
PICTURE DAY MAKE-UPS
Proofs of our school pictures were sent home in last week's Thursday folder. If you wish to have your child retake their picture, please let me know so I can inform the office.
As always, I appreciate your support. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs. Boayes
